3RD THURSDAY MUSIC, FLOWERS & A SUNSET

Looking for something to do on a Thursday evening? Stroll through historic downtown Vermilion while being serenaded. Vermilion has become known throughout the region for its fabulous 3rd Thursday Music, Flowers & A Sunset concerts which take place May through September. Experience the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze from Lake Erie as the beautiful flowers are in full bloom in Vermilion. There is an exciting array of free musical entertainment for you with well over a dozen bands scattered throughout Harbour Town. Many local musicians provide music for your listening enjoyment in several different locations, including rock, jazz, pop, country, oldies, ethnic, gospel and much more! Do some shopping, grab something to eat or enjoy some great ice cream and be a part of this fantastic event each Third Thursday of the month. MEMORIAL DAY IN VERMILION

Memorial Day ceremonies take place in Vermilion, Ohio annually. A Vermilion Veterans Dedication takes place at Exchange Park, on the corner of Main Street and Liberty Avenue, at 8:30 am. At 9:15 am a Veterans Dedication takes place at Maple Grove Cemetery at 8303 Cemetery Road. The Memorial Day Parade kicks off in downtown Vermilion at 10:30 am at Liberty Avenue; ending at Victory Park. At 11 am a Memorial Day Ceremony will be held in Victory Park at the corner of Main Street and Ohio Street. A luncheon will follow at Vermilion Amvets, 1517 State Road. THE SHORTEST PARADE IN TOWN

The Shortest Parade in Town” takes place annually on the Sunday before Memorial Day in Brownhelm Township. This one-of a-kind parade is small town America at its best! Parade participants line up by 1:30 pm with the parade leaving at 1:45 pm to head to the Brownhelm Cemetery. Participants should gather at the corners of North Ridge and Claus Road (south). The Amherst American Legion leads the parade followed by the Brownhelm Historical Association wagon, Brownhelm 4-H Club, antique cars, tractors and more! At the Veterans Memorial site, a short ceremony honoring our Veterans will follow. All are welcome to join in the parade or the presentation at the Brownhelm Cemetery.

SHRED DAY

The Shred Truck, provided by Lorain County Commissioners and Lorain County Solid Waste Management, will be in the E & R Parking Lot, 752 Grand Street, in May. Please make sure you enter on Ohio Street. The parking lot will not be accessible on Grand. When you bring your documents to the truck they will be taken out of the bag or box you brought them in and dumped into a bin to be lifted into the truck. You will be asked to take back the container you brought the documents in.

VERMILION COMMUNITY PRAYER GATHERING

Vermilion Community Prayer Gathering "Day of Prayer" takes place in May at Victory Park in downtown Vermilion, Ohio. The is held at the Victory Park gazebo (corner of Ohio Street and Main Street). Hosted by the Vermilion Ministerial Association and the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce, this is a free community event. Brought to you by the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce. VERMILION ART SHOWS & RECEPTIONS

The Vermilion Arts Guild hosts seasonal shows featuring artwork that reflect the season. The Vermilion Arts Guild, a program of Main Street Vermilion, is a collective of local artists and craftsmen working together to provide opportunities that promote and identify Vermilion as an exciting art community. Gallery shows feature watercolors, acrylics, oils, mixed media, photography, jewelry, potters, fiber art, wood and hand-crafted items. Original art is a great gift. VERMILION POSTCARD PROJECT

The Postcard Project features 15 big and beautiful, mural-sized recreations of vintage postcards that record local history and the nostalgic scenes that depict Vermilion as a long-time vacation destination. Enjoy a day downtown and all around Vermilion and see the award-winning Postcard Project for yourself. Stop in at Main Street Vermilion first for your keepsake Tour Guide (a $5 suggested donation). Postcards 1 through 10 are walkable throughout the historic downtown district. Postcards 11-14 are located along the eastern corridor of town and can be viewed on foot or by car. Postcard 15 is located 4.8 miles west of downtown at Beulah Beach, where the grounds are open to the public and the view of the lake is a wonderful way to end your day in Vermilion.
