Erie County voters voted in support of the Erie County Health Department 0.3-mill renewal levy, according to unofficial election results. The City of Vermilion Health Department operates through the Erie County Department of Health.
9,892 voters were in favor of the levy. 3,596 voters voted against the levy. The Erie County Health Department levy is a renewal, so it will not raise property taxes.
The levy generates approximately $650,000 a year; around $9 a year for a home owner with a house valued at $100,000.
The Erie County Health Department is supported by 3 levies: 0.2-mill, 0.3-mill and 0.5-mill, generating approximately $2.2 million annually. These levies account for just 28.5% of the annual budget. Conversely, a full 71.5% comes from outside funding through grants and other sources.
