Harbourtown Fine Arts Center has raised funding for the downpayment to purchase the Vermilion Town Hall in downtown Vermilion, Ohio. The organization is working on beginning the necessary renovations to make the building fully operational to bring the fine arts to Vermilion and surrounding areas. Harbourtown Fine Arts Center (HFAC) is a 501c3 organization focused on "Preserving the past-Presenting the future centered around the fine arts".

Once a year, Jewish children all over the world play a game of chance called “dreidel” that uses four-sided spinning tops inscribed with Hebrew letters. The game is played during Hanukkah and commemorates a miraculous event that took place over 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem. The game, like Hanukkah itself, recalls the victory of a small band of determined Jewish fighters, led by Judah Maccabee, over an army of invaders.
Lorain Hospital once again was awarded an ‘A’ in the fall Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing the hospital’s achievements providing safer health care. This is the second time this year the nationally recognized rating organization has awarded Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital with an ‘A’ grade. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization.
One of the big community events done annually by the Vermilion Fire Company is Santa on the Fire Truck. Observing Covid-19 and safety protocols, this holiday season the children of Vermilion will still be able to see Santa drive through their neighborhood in a fire truck.

Brian Crandall is a retired Sandusky Firefighter. He and his wife Jill own Silly Goose Unique Gifts, 657 Main Street, Vermilion. Crandall donated an American flag to the City and asked that it fly above the new Vermilion Fire Department Firehouse 1 during its dedication in January 2021. Crandall presented the flag to Mayor Forthofer Friday.
