Main Street Vermilion is encouraging local businesses, organizations and residents to promote Vermilion on social media using the hashtag #44089. A hashtag is a word or phrase preceded by a hash sign (#) used on social media websites and applications to identify messages on a specific topic.

Petitioners in Vermilion are collecting signatures from residents to get a “No Fine No Time” marijuana ordinance on the ballot. The Sensible Marijuana Ordinance would change the city code to reduce the penalties for misdemeanor marijuana possession to zero. While state law bans marijuana possession.

Lake Erie water levels have reached an all-time high, beating records set in 1986 by a quarter-inch, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Friends of Harbour Town Flag Committee has completed phase two of placing American Flags in Vermilion, Ohio. The committee raised funds to install flags on Main Street and Liberty Avenue up to Overlook Drive. The project will continue to place flags to the west end of town up to the City limits, as donations allow.

Vermilion Rotary is again sponsoring free Learn To Swim lessons for the youth of Vermilion, Ohio. Two sessions are scheduled at the Vermilion Community Pool. The dates are: June 10 - June 14 and July 8 - July 12. Registration forms are available at Vermilion City Hall.

The 49th Annual Traders Exchange, held during the Festival of the Fish, is a three day event from June 14th to the 16th, 2019 at Exchange Park, Routes 6 & 60, in downtown Vermilion, Ohio. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm, Sunday from noon to 5 pm.
