The City of Vermilion is reporting that 2,500 meters have been replaced. Forty percent of the City's old water meters have been replaced with state of the art new meters, according to Mayor Forthofer. Almost all replacements are residential meters located outdoors.
“Installers from NECO knock on doors before turning off the water to replace the meters,” stated the mayor. “The Meter Replacement Program seems to be going smoothly. Large commercial/industrial/multi-family unit meters have just begun.”
The program's completion should be this fall, according to Mayor Forthofer.
