All June public events in the City of Vermilion have been suspended, according to Mayor Forthofer. Events on public properties, including parks, that gather more than 10 people will be suspended for the month of June.
“This includes Fish Festival, fireworks, Third Thursday, and any other planned events,” stated the mayor. “Parks Use permits gathering more than 10 people will also be rescinded for June.”
The mayor stated: “I am ordering this after consultation with the Erie County Health Department and in the sole interest of public health. My intention is to review the situation month by month in light of the Governor's changing orders. My hope is that Vermilionites may still enjoy a few summer activities later in the season...IF we can do them safely. We'll see.”
