Erie County Resident Tests Positive For Coronavirus

An Erie County resident tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), reported the Erie County Health Department on Friday. Sources have reported that the 85-year-old man has died.

This is Erie County’s first positive case of COVID-19 thus far. This virus is believed to be present in many areas of the State, including those counties who have not yet received a test result confirming COVID-19.

Ohio has taken many progressive actions to reduce the spread of COVID-19, in order to lessen the stress put onto the health care system. The Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s executive orders have all been upheld within Erie County, Ohio. The Erie County Health Department will continue to work closely with all partners and continue to work as a unified incident command system in order to keep Erie County, Ohio as healthy as possible.

It is important now more than ever to continue to follow and continue to follow an ALL COMMUNITY approach to help minimize the spread of COVID-19. You can do this by, continuing to social distance yourself. Avoid groups of 10 people or more and mass gatherings of 50 people or more as these are prohibited. Individuals should keep at least 6 feet distance between yourself and others. Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes, cover coughs/sneezes with your arm, avoid exposure to others who are sick, stay home if you are ill. Employers are being called to take extra precautions with their work force. Sanitizing procedures should be increased in work settings and temperatures of employees should be taken every day at the start of shift.
