The Festival of the Fish Sandcastle Contest will take place June 19, 2021 from 9 am to 11:30 am. This year's theme is Mardi Gras.

Rules: 1. Use of water & colored water, sand & natural elements found on the beach only. Plastic pails, shovels, etc. are permissible for construction of the project, but may not be part of the finished product. 2. Areas will be partitioned off and assigned to each team, based on registration. 3. Teams must be a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 10 members, including adults. (See categories below) 4. Categories are based on age from Preschool to Grade 12, and a family category. Grades listed for the categories are the grade just completed by the end of the school year. Preschool up through Grade 2 – must have 1 adult per team. Grade 3 through Grade 5 – must have 1 adult per team. Middle School – Grades 6-8 only. No adults permissible. High School – Grades 9-12 only. No adults permissible. Family – any ages. Must have 1 adult per team. All participants will receive a ribbon and Quit Claim Deed for their sandcastle from the Cassell Enterprises, Inc. Trophies will be awarded to the first place winners in each category. Trophies will be awarded based on originality, creativity and best design, as deemed by the Judges. The emphasis is on fun, not competition. The decision of the Judges is final. Pizza and pop will be given to all participants at the conclusion of the event courtesy of Domino’s. The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce and the Festival of the Fish Committee bring you the Annual Festival of the Fish June 18th to June 20th, 2021. Celebrate the sea in downtown Vermilion, Ohio at Victory Park, 687 Main Street. An amazing entertainment line-up will be offered. Start planning for the Fish Fest Sand Castle Contest, Crazy Craft Race, Parade and Lighted Boat Parade. Vermilion will burst with colors when the Festival of the Fish brings a lil New Orleans to Vermilion with a 2021 Mardi Gras theme.

The Festival of the Fish offers free entertainment with no admission fee, free parking, a midway full of food vendors, kids games and much much more. A beer cabana will be located by the Main Stage with ice cold beer and beverages and live entertainment. Festival hours are Friday and Saturday 12 pm to 11 pm, Sunday 12 pm to 6 pm.

Live entertainment will include Disco Inferno, E5C4P3-Journey Tribute Band, and Ace Molar with Fox 8 Todd Meany.

On Friday young girls vie for the coveted title of guppy, princess, little miss and queen in one of the largest festival pageants in the county. Kids games take place at the gazebo. At noon the Midway opens with delicious foods and spectacular craft vendors. Don't miss the princess pageant and the Queens Pageant.

Festival of the Fish Fireworks will take place on Friday at dusk (approximately 9:45 pm). The best place to watch is on Festival grounds by Victory Park or Main Street Beach. Fireworks will be launched off the detached break wall.

On Saturday the day kicks off with a 5 K run and 1 – mile walk sponsored by the YMCA, and a Sand Castle Contest at Main Street Beach. Crazy Craft Races and an Antique Wooden Boat Parade take place on the Vermilion River. The annual Lighted Boat Parade sails at dusk on the Vermilion River.

On Sunday, the annual Father’s Day Parade steps off in downtown Vermilion. Don’t miss the wet and wild firefighters water fight immediately following the parade.
