Looking for a fun, socially-distanced activity this fall? Look no further! Enjoy the beauty and history that Brownhelm has to offer all from the safety and comfort of your own vehicle. The Brownhelm Historical Association is offering a driving tour of historic houses and locations along North Ridge Road featuring costumed narrators who will share with you the story of these places.
Historic Homes of Brownhelm Fall Driving Tour takes place Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 1 pm to 6 pm starting at Historic Brownhelm School, 1950 North Ridge Road in Vermilion, Ohio.
Along the tour you'll learn about the influential Bacon and Fairchild families, families who built many of the homes which still stand in Brownhelm today. You'll also learn of Brownhelm's first place of worship and one of its ministers, Dr. Alfred Betts, who lived across the street. The tour will end at the Benjamin Bacon Home in Mill Hollow Reservation where you will hear the story of Mill Hollow and Bacons Mills, enjoy a self-guided tour of the home, and a comforting fire outside.
Tickets may be purchased online, or you may call to reserve your spot and pay by check: (419) 656-2958. Tickets cost $25 per carload - feel free to bring as many people as will safely (and legally!) fit in your vehicle.
Note that in case of rain, the tour will be moved to October 18th.
