The Vermilion Community Concert Band practices at the Lucy Idol Center, at 435 Nicholson Road in Vermilion, on Thursday evenings from 7:15 pm to 9:15 pm. All adult musicians who play a band instrument, at any performance level, are welcome to participate.
No try-outs are required to join. Woodwinds and percussion are especially needed. Bring your own stand.
Band practices typically begin in February. The summer concert season goes from June thru September. Practices resume in October in preparation for the winter concert season (December).
The Vermilion Community Concert Band is one of two performing arts groups sponsored by the Vermilion Community Music Association (VCMA). The VCMA was established in 1996. All band members are volunteers who enjoy playing and performing concert band music. The VCMA is governed by a Board of Directors, all of whom perform in the Association’s groups.
Membership is open to any area musicians who plays a traditional concert band instruments. There are no fees, dues, or auditions of any kind. High school musicians may join the band at the discretion of the director.
