Light Up Vermilion!

Vermilion is dressing up for the holidays! Light Up Vermilion! takes place on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 5 pm to 8 pm in Downtown Vermilion, Ohio.

During the 5th annual Light Up Vermilion, local businesses invite you in for extended shopping hours, festive window displays, and activities that will fill the evening. Here’s what’s in store for you and your family:

Stop at Main Street Vermilion first. Pick up a cookie box courtesy of Kingston of Vermilion then fill it with delicious treats as you visit participating merchants. You’ll love this Cookie Crawl. Yum!

Enter the Scavenger Hunt, a fun holiday challenge that could earn you a $50 prize. Participate as an individual or a family and hit the street to find the answers tucked away in shop window displays. Stop at Main Street first for your clues and directions. (In the event of more than one winner, there will be a drawing for the prize.)

Santa will be downtown that night greeting visitors as they stroll Main Street and Liberty Avenue. He’ll have a special treat for good girls and boys and those trying hard as well!

The Vermilion Arts Guild will have their Holiday Show & Sale at the Arts Guild Gallery inside the Main Street Office. Warm up at their complimentary Hot Chocolate Bar and save 10% on all your gift purchases that evening.

Harbour Town business owners have been working hard on their window displays this holiday season. Vote for your favorite window display and help them earn a cash prize and Main Street Vermilion membership and the benefits that come with being a member.

The Letters to Santa Mailbox will be out and waiting to hold your Christmas wishes. Giant postcards will be on hand, addressed and waiting for your message.

Vermilion E & R and Grace United Methodist choirs will carol throughout Downtown. Join them in singing songs of the season, or simply enjoy their performance.

Joette McDonald, everyone’s favorite teacher and the author of The Lighthouse Mystery, will be at Main Street that evening personally signing copies of her book, which makes a great stocking stuffer and supports the preservation of the Vermilion Lighthouse.

The Christmas Alpacas will be in town. Stop and visit these pretty creatures. They are all lit up in Exchange Park.

Public Art Vermilion will host their popular Chalk Wall this evening. Stop by and add your own holiday touches.

End the evening at Ritter Public Library for the Friends Annual Holiday Concert at 7 pm. It’s free for all and draws a large crowd. Enjoy sounds of the season from the Vermilion Community Music Association's concert band. Refreshments will be served as well.

Individual businesses will be hosting their own special events, fun and delicious add-ons that will complete your evening and make you wish Christmas was closer.
