The sounds of music ring out at Ritter Public Library! A series of free music programs open to the public will feature area singers, songwriters and more.
The series is produced by the Friends of Ritter, the library’s active volunteer group whose mission is to promote use and enjoyment of the library. This year, audiences enjoyed programs featuring a harpist, violinist and a swing-music trio from Cleveland.
The year ends with the return of the traditional, annual holiday concert by the Vermilion Community Music Association’s concert band on Thursday, December 5 at 7 pm. Like all the programs, the concert is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served. It takes place during the town-wide “Light Up Vermilion” event sponsored by Main Street Vermilion in the downtown area.
Next year, the Friends’ music series will take place Sunday afternoons at 2 pm. It kicks off with guitarist Jerry Allen, who will also talk about songwriting and lyrics, on Sunday, March 3. The Amherst Community Chorus returns with its fun-filled program Sunday, April 26. On Sunday, May 3, enjoy the Alley Cats, the female singing duo popular from Vermilion’s Third Thursday events.
