Counties may go red, COVID cases may increase, but the City of Vermilion is still having outdoor Trick or Treat from 5 pm to 7 pm on Saturday, October 31, according to Mayor Forthofer.
Is this safe?
“Health Department officials advise me that outdoor trick or treating is a reasonable risk,” stated the mayor. “Indoor parties of any kind carry an unacceptable risk.”
The mayor is advising all families to follow the Health Department guidelines:
*Don't travel in groups larger than 10.
*Don't put out help-yourself buckets of candy. (Too many little hands)
*Sit outside of your house to hand out candy.
*Wear gloves when dispensing candy.
*Hand sanitize, social distance, and wear a mask if it's not part of your costume.
VPD and VFD will be out doing community service as usual.
“Don't participate this year if you don't feel comfortable,” said Mayor Forthofer. “Reasonable people will understand. This is an unusual year for sure.”
