Harbourtown Fine Arts Center in downtown Vermilion, Ohio is holding a "Renovation Raffle" to raise funds to begin some of the renovations to the old Town Hall building. The drawing will be December 1st, just in time for your holiday shopping. The first prize is $300; second prize is $200 and third prize is $100. Tickets are $5 each! Winner need not be present.

Walk, hike, or run ahead of those holiday pounds and finish 2020 strong! 75 days to walk, hike, jog or run as many miles on any Lorain County Metro Parks trail as possible. Volunteers are needed as Santas and drivers for Brownhelm Community Christmas, a staple of the holiday season in Brownhelm, Ohio for decades. Volunteer Santas clad in white beards and red suits deliver gifts, candy and fruit baskets to homes in the community on Christmas Eve. Santas and drivers usually work Christmas Eve from 5 pm to 8 pm.

A Free Family Fallfest takes place on Saturday, October 31 at 6716 West River Road in Vermilion, hosted by First Baptist Church of Vermilion. Join the Blocktober Party on Saturday, October 31 from 1 pm to 4 pm for Trunk or Treat, pumpkin decorating, barrel train rides and more. All activities are free. Hot dogs and popcorn will be served, in case you get the munchies.

Halloween Pirate Treasure Hunt takes place on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 10 am to 4:30 pm at Vermilion River Reservation’s Carriage Barn. Pickup a map at the Carriage Barn and explore the park for clues! Find all the clues to receive a Halloween prize. Preregistration is not required. Face masks are required when inside the Carriage Barn and strongly recommended while outside.

As the summer season ends, the ODNR is encouraging Vermilion boaters to continue to explore Ohio’s many lakes, rivers, and streams as a unique way to observe the changing fall colors. However, to reduce late season boating accidents, boaters are also advised to be aware of the dangers associated with cold water. A properly prepared boater will always wear a life jacket.
