Vermilion Playgrounds Reopen

The City of Vermilion has reopened playgrounds at city parks, following closures due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“As of Wednesday, June 10, all playground equipment in City of Vermilion parks is open for business,” stated Mayor Forthofer. “Please use your discretion regarding possible exposure to COVID-19.”

Lorain County Metro Parks has also announced the reopening of outdoor playgrounds throughout the park district.

The park system asks that all visitors play safely, have fun, and be kind. Some important reminders include:

  • Wash hands frequently and keep hands away from the face.
  • Stay 6 feet from others outside your household.
  • Face masks are encouraged for visitors but not when that person is playing, running, or climbing.

The Inclusive Playground at Amherst HealthPlex will reopen on June 22 with the facility. The inclusive Playground will be free to use and should be accessed from the outside gate north of the building.

Indoor playspaces and Splash Pads throughout the park district will remain closed until further notice.
