Wednesday marked the beginning of the Vermilion Local School District Sailor Cuisine Program. This is a program to give eligible students access to food and hygiene products.
In collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, Vermilion Local Schools are now offering a school-based food pantry for students and their families. The school pantry provides income eligible families with free non-perishable food items on a designated day every month. There is no cost for the school pantry, however, families must meet income eligibility guidelines and self-declare they are eligible to receive food.
The program began on February 20, 2020 and will continue throughout the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Be on the lookout for more details as the School Pantry program grows and develops. Working together with parents and the community, Vermilion Schools hope to be a resource for families struggling with hunger.
