Spend time with your local Natural Resources Officer and learn about safe boating while taking an Ohio Boating Education Course. Winter is the perfect time to take a boating course so that you are prepared to hit the water this spring.
Anyone born on or after January 1, of 1982, is required to take a boating course, and for those that aren’t mandated it is a great opportunity to learn.
Officers remind you that small boats lend themselves to capsizing. Capsizing in cold water greatly increases the risk of hypothermia and possibly death. Remember to maintain three points of contact while in a vessel, do not overload the boat's weight capacity or horsepower, and wear your life jacket.
